eGENTING Programming Competition 2005

November 25th, 2005

I’ll be away from my computer 2 days for the preparation of eGenting Programming Competition 2005 at Genting Highlands. If you have not heard of this before, eGenting is organizing this event every year to search for competitive programmers. This time, I’m not a contestant for the competition. I’ve participated last year. I’ll be just helping around this time.

Do you think organizing competition is an appropriate way to find good programmers?

If my article helped you solved your problem, consider buy me a beer!

I think it’s a pretty good idea, though the best programmers probably won’t show up–they’ll be too busy landing clients.

I raised the question because I find that competition only reveals the technical side of a person. There might still be a number of different measurements to define good programmer. 🙂
